Mrs. Graham reminisces about her girlhood growing up in the Methodist missions at Kitimat and Coqualeetsa in the Fraser Valley. Her father, Rev. G. Raley, was an active collector and promoter of traditional crafts in addition to superintending mission schools and undertaking missionary work.

Five First Nations speakers active in a variety of different contexts offer their perspectives on issues of immediate interest. Topics covered include respect and care for elders, the generation gap, adjustment to urban life, education, assimilationist policies, and cultural genocide.

Agatha Klassen offers a history of Mennonite settlement in the Yarrow area of the Fraser Valley. Helena Braun reminisces about her experiences on the Fraser River Flood of 1948.

Don Garcia, president of the International Longshoremen's Union, explains the history of labour relations in this industry on the port of Vancouver, British Columbia. Trade union topics covered include union structure, union affiliation, union benefits, collective agreements, hiring policies, and international organizing. Other topics include containerization, goods movement, bulk carriers, and port facilities.

D'Arcy J. Baldwin analyzes the responses to the devastating Fraser River floods of 1894 and 1948 in the Fraser Valley. As part of the team responsible for flood control in 1948, he provided detailed commentary on the logistics of the 1948 effort.

Fraser Taylor provides commentary on the principal theories presented to explain the presence of Indigenous peoples in North America, including British Columbia.

The chapter on differential equations is authored by Ross Magi, available in chapter 20 of this version of the text. The complete calculus book is under the Creative Commons Attribution- NonCommercial-Share-Alike 4.0 International License. It is available for free at www.apexcalculus.com. The chapters on more applications and multivariate calculus are taken from Math 1274 lecture notes and the Multivariate calculus notebook, by Pichmony Anhaouy, department of mathematics and statistics, Langara College. The exercises for each section of these chapters are taken from Math 1274 problems book and Exercises multivariate calculus, by Ken Collins and Pichmony Anhaouy.
